BOOKING HOSTELS AND BANDB DURING THE CHELTENHAM NATIONAL HUNT FESTIVAL

There are many reasons to go to Cheltenham during the Horse Racing and National Hunt Festival, but one isn't the cheap prices and luxury accommodation. Most Hotels double or even triple their prices during this time, and they feel quite justified in doing so. Even the Bed and Breakfasts(most of them open only during the Festival) can be something to behold.

The main thing when searching for Cheap Accommodation and B&B during the races is to be realistic because if you have decided to splash out on the races, then you need to remember it is not going to be cheap. One suggestion would be to book a room or Hotel in Gloucester, which is only a 20 minute car or bus ride away, but in all honesty, do you want to be busing it during the biggest Horse racing Festival of the year?

There is also the option of placing an ad in one of the small local Newspapers, saying you are looking for accommodation during the festival, I happen to know a few people who did this and it seems to work out pretty well. Other than that, just pay the cash, it will be painful and it wont feel great, but once its paid, then its done and dusted. Make sure you are booking a Hotel in the Center of Cheltenham and now 2 or 3 miles out, which can often be the case. The Cheltenham Races is a great festival but it simply isn't cheap and accommodation in Cheltenham during this period is neither cheap nor well catered for - just make the most of it and do not get too drunk.
